Vice presidential bid of Sotto is supported by FATE
The Filipino Alliance for Transparency and Empowerment (FATE) group has expressed support for Senate President Vicente Sotto III’s candidacy for vice president in the 2022 elections.
FATE earlier persuaded Sotto to run for vice president in the 2022 elections.
As a group that promotes transparency in public governance, FATE said they have conducted a study on political personalities who they think may run in the next election.
Aside from Sotto, the group is rooting for the senate return of former senators Antique Rep. Loren Legarda, Sorsogon Gov. Francis “Chiz” Escudero and Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT) Secretary Gregorio “Gringo” Honasan.
FATE, on the other hand, called on President Rodrigo Duterte to have “delicadeza” in his plan to run for vice president in the next election.
“Bagama’t hindi na bago sa kanila sa Davao City ang magpalitan sa posisyon para mahawakan ang lokal na pamahalaan, sana ay igalang naman ng pamilya Duterte ang Malacanang na hinawakan din ng ibang magagaling na lider na humubog sa kasaysayan ng ating bansa,” the group said.
Duterte recently said that he would only run for vice president to get immunity in any case that could be filed against him.
