On Tuesday, Mayor Joy Belmonte disclosed that former President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III was supposed to get his COVID-19 vaccine dose in Quezon City before his death.

According to Mayor Belmonte, former President Aquino was supposed to receive his dose of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine in Quezon City before he died.

That was the reason why Mayor Belmonte was surprised when she learned of former President Aquino’s passing as the local government even prepared the COVID-19 vaccine for him.

In an interview with Politiko TV, Mayor Belmonte said that they had prepared Pfizer vaccine for former President Aquino because that’s what’s ideal for people with comorbities like him, adding that she learned that his doctors said that he wasn’t strong enough to accept a COVID-19 vaccine anymore.

Also, Mayor Belmonte shared that she’s alarmed as she realized that maybe former President Aquino’s health condition was already deteriorating.

Mayor Belmonte said that former President Aquino’s passing was “a great loss”. According to her, the former president “was a great example” to her as a leader because “of his strong advocacy towards good governance”.

Moreover, Mayor Belmonte said that even her father, Feliciano Belmonte Jr, who served as House speaker during the Aquino administration, cried when he learned of Aquino’s death.

According to her, her father, now 85 years old, still went to Aquino’s wake at Heritage Memorial Park because her father felt that “he really had to pay his respects to his boss”.
