Based on a report from PCOO, President Duterte warmly congratulated President Putin on the celebration of Russia Day.

According to President Duterte, he’s confident that their strong relations will continue to thrive in the years ahead as they deepen cooperation in more areas of mutual interest — including in their common fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

On this day of national unity and celebration, let me convey the Filipino people’s best wishes for the continued success and prosperity of your great nation. This year, the Philippines and Russia mark 45 years of warm and fruitful ties. It was my great pleasure to have commemorated this special milestone with Your Excellency on the 2nd of June,” President Duterte told President Putin.

In a similar message, President Putin also expressed his greetings to President Duterte for the Philippines’ 123rd Independence Day celebration.

President Putin said that the Russia-Philippines relations were traditionally friendly and he’s confident that by joining efforts they’ll secure further development on constructive bilateral dialogue, fruitful cooperation in various fields, as well as partnership to respond to pressing international challenges.

It fully meets the interests of our two nations and goes in line with strengthening security and stability in the Asia-Pacific region,” President Putin told President Duterte.

Concluding his message, President Putin wished President Duterte good health and success, and the people of the Philippines—well-being and prosperity.

It was last April when President Duterte and President Putin had a telesummit, discussing the coronavirus pandemic and defense cooperation between Russia and the Philippines. The telesummit took place at the Malacañang Golf Clubhouse (MALAGO).
