MJ Lastimosa on Rabiya Mateo: “Nung nakita niya lang ako, bigla na siyang na-teary-eyed.”
Mary Jean “MJ” Lastimosa shared why Rabiya Mateo became emotional when they met after the Miss Universe 2020 pageant.
On May 18, 2021 (U.S. time), one day after the 69th edition of the Miss Universe pageant, a thanksgiving/send-off lunch was organized by a Filipino restaurant in Miami, Florida, USA.
Rabiya and fellow beauty queens MJ and Miss Universe Philippines National Director Shamcey Supsup attended.
MJ was a Top 10 finalist in Miss Universe 2014 while Shamcey was third runner-up in Miss Universe 2011.
It can be seen that when MJ and Shamcey arrived at the venue, they greeted those who are inside the place.
When MJ Lastimosa got close to Rabiya’s seat, the two hugged tightly. Eventually, they went emotional.
“Nung nakita ko siya, wala pa kaming sinasabi at wala pang words ‘yon, hindi pa kami nag-uusap nun,” she said.
“Nung nakita niya lang ako, bigla na siyang na-teary-eyed, at ayun na nga, siguro naibuhos na niya yung emotion niya,” she added.
Because many people witnessed the incident, MJ Lastimosa advised Rabiya that they should talk later to avoid any scene.
She also opened up about the pressure of being a Miss Universe candidate.
