President Duterte Set To Announce Quarantine Classifications Starting April 5 — Roque

President Duterte was set to announce the quarantine classifications starting April 5, according to Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque.

Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque on Saturday said that President Rodrigo Duterte was set to announce the COVID-19 quarantine classifications starting April 5, 2021.

GMA News Online reported that Roque told GMA News Online in a text message that the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) on COVID-19 had an “ongoing” meeting on what appropriate quarantine classification will be implemented starting April 5 in the “NCR Plus” area (Metro Manila, Rizal, Laguna, Cavite, and Bulacan).

On April 4, the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in Metro Manila, Rizal, Laguna, Cavite, and Bulacan will expire. Meanwhile, the provinces of Quirino and Isabela were placed under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) from April 1-15, and April 1-30, respectively.

In addition, the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), Davao City, Isabela, Cagayan, Nueva Vizcaya, Tacloban City, Batangas, Iligan City, and Lanao del Sur were placed under general community quarantine (GCQ) from April 1 to 30.

Moreover, the rest of the country were under modified general community quarantine (MGCQ) until the end of the month.

When asked when will President Duterte’s announcement on the new quarantine classifications, upon the expiration of enhanced community quarantine in the NCR Plus area, Roque said “Today”.

The OCTA Research team earlier recommended a one-week extension of the enhanced community quarantine implemented in the NCR Plus bubble amidst the continuing rise in the number of coronavirus cases.

[UPDATE] As of 4:00 p.m. of April 3, 2021, the Department of Health recorded 12,576 new COVID-19 cases, bring the total number of cases to 784,043.
