President Duterte called for a minute of silence to pay respect over the death of Secretary Sitoy during his Talk to the People in Malacañang.

Secretary Sitoy’s death was confirmed by Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan in his Facebook post.

I’m very sad to relay to you the death of the second Cabinet member to die. First was Danny Lim, second was Secretary Sitoy of the Legislative Liaison Office. So I will call for a break for about a minute and request to stand and we pray in silence for his soul,” President Duterte said.

Also, Malacañang extended its condolences to Secretary Sitoy’s family, loved ones, and colleagues.

In a press statement, Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said that the Palace expressed its deep condolences to the family, loved ones, and colleagues of Secretary Sitoy.

Roque also recalled how Secretary Sitoy was instrumental in the passage of the current administration’s key legislative reform measures. He also offered prayers for Secretary Sitoy’s eternal repose.

In a separate statement, Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo remembered Secretary Sitoy for his “invaluable help” in pursuing the enactment of important and vital pieces of legislation.

Panelo also shared that Secretary Sitoy, who was his “brother in the profession” and his “personal friend”, was also a pretty good dancer.

I will miss the dancing prowess on the dance floor of a man who has lived a life of selflessness and humility. We honor and pay tribute to his devotion to public service,” Panelo said.

Secretary Sitoy was appointed as Presidential Legislative Liaison Office (PLLO) Secretary last August 2016.
