JC Tan Shares Emotional Story Behind His Jesus Christ Head Tattoo
JC TAN – The VMX actor shared a deeply personal and emotional part of his life during a media conference for his latest project with co-stars Margaret Diaz and Aerol Carmelo. He drew public attention after revealing a large tattoo of Jesus Christ on top of his head, which he said represents his strong faith and personal struggles.
He explained that he decided to get the tattoo during a very painful and lonely period in his life. According to him, emotional pain was far greater than physical pain, and his faith helped him endure it. Before proceeding with the tattoo, he said he quietly sought guidance from God, viewing the decision as a reflection of his devotion, as well as his passion for acting and his career in the entertainment industry.
JC stated that the tattoo was done by a trusted artist whom he personally knows and whose previous works he carefully reviewed. The session began in the morning, included a short break at noon, and was completed in the afternoon.

Aside from the tattoo of Jesus Christ on his head, JC also has another meaningful tattoo on his back depicting the faces of his adoptive grandparents, who raised him as their own. He was adopted at the age of two in Abra. His grandmother passed away in 2015, while his grandfather died in 2019. He became emotional while recalling their care and support, particularly during the early stages of his acting career.
He shared that he entered the entertainment industry in 2017, initially taking minor roles, and emphasized the significant role his grandparents played in his upbringing. JC also briefly spoke about his biological parents, stating that he never truly knew them and remains uncertain whether his mother is still alive. He added that he no longer feels the need to search for her, saying that if there was genuine intent to reconnect, it could have happened earlier.

Despite his difficult past, JC believes these experiences have shaped him as an actor. Directors he has worked with have praised his performance, which he attributes to the challenges he has faced in life. His role in the film Barurot Dos earned him recognition, including the title “Barurot King,” given by director Roman Perez Jr., who served as the project’s creative director.
