Ex-Mayor Clarifies Viral “Gas-and-Run” Video

Ex-Mayor Denies “Gas-and-Run” Allegation

HARRY FLORIDA – A former mayor of Allacapan, Cagayan clarified the viral video showing a man chasing an SUV, which many online believed to be a “gas-and-run” incident.

He stated that this assumption was incorrect. According to him, the situation was simply a playful moment between him and a close friend, not a case of leaving without paying for fuel. He also stressed that no gasoline was placed into the vehicle at that time, and noted that he owns the gas station, making the claims even more misleading.

Florida further explained that the man seen chasing the SUV, known as Tyson, has long been living with their family and is someone he trusts. The chase happened because Tyson saw them leaving and ran after them as part of their usual playful behavior. He added that they often create light and entertaining scenes for their vlog, and that the video was just one of their jokes and casual moments.

To clarify the situation, Florida said they later allowed Tyson to get into the vehicle and even brought him along for snacks, showing that no serious issue or wrongdoing occurred. Despite this, he still offered an apology to the public, especially to those who were offended or misunderstood the video.

However, the incident has already drawn the attention of authorities. The Land Transportation Office issued a show cause order against the occupants of the SUV, including Florida. The driver’s license has been suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle has been placed under alarm status while the matter is under review. Florida stated that he respects the process and is prepared to accept whatever decision or penalty the agency may impose.
