During the Presidential press briefing, Malacañang said that President Duterte will no longer physically grace any welcoming ceremony for other COVID-19 vaccines that will be shipped to the country.

Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque, President Duterte was assuming that a steady COVID-19 vaccine supply for the Philippines was already underway.

According to Roque, the President was expecting that COVID-19 vaccines will start coming in and it’s a matter of course that more COVID-19 vaccines will arrive as supplies eased up worldwide.

Roque also said that the President will not physically go to the airport anymore in order to welcome the other COVID-19 vaccines.

Inaasahan naman niyang sunud-sunod na yung pagdating. Kumbaga it’s a matter of course na marami nang darating as supplies ease up worldwide. Hindi na siya pupunta physically sa airport para salubungin yung ibang bakuna,” Roque said.

President Duterte was last seen personally welcoming the arrival of COVID-19 vaccines worth₱700 million from China’s Sinovac Biotech last March 29 as it was the first batch of COVID-19 vaccines procured by the administration.

Also, he welcomed the arrival of the first shipment of the China-donated Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine doses last February 28, and the initial batch of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine doses last March 4.
