On Friday, April 16, Erap was readmitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) due to a superimposed bacterial lung infection.

Erap’s blood pressure also needs to be monitored because it has risen due to the said infection.

But in the latest update of the younger Estrada, he said that his father’s condition is improving.

Jinggoy added that his medication for blood pressure support has been reduced and Erap’s kidney function is also improving.

He also said that the former president remains “alert and oriented” even though he continues to have oxygen support.

Here is Jinggoy’s post:

My father is doing better today. His medications for blood pressure support are being lessened and his kidney function is improving. Overall, he seems to be responding well to measures to control the lung infection. He is still on oxygen support but continues to be alert and oriented. He still remains at the ICU for further monitoring. Please continue to pray that his progress continues. Thank you so much.”

The former President was rushed to hospital on March 28 after he tested positive for COVID-19.

On April 6, he was induced with a mechanical ventilator to breathe properly and on April 13, the former public servant tested negative for COVID-19.
