Nograles on ECQ Ayuda beneficiaries: “Kung may dagdag-bawas sa listahan, dapat lalong suriin yan.”
Puwersa ng Bayaning Atleta (PBA) party-list Rep. Jericho Nograles revealed that some questionable people were included in the list of those who will receive ‘ECQ Ayuda’ in NCR Plus Bubble.
According to Nograles, their office has received reports that some names on the list of beneficiaries receiving financial assistance are either dead or working abroad.
Nograles cited for instance a man in Pasay who was still on the list even though he died in August 2020.
The congressman also found out that a minor and a house helper who already lives in Mindanao were among those who will be given ECQ ayuda..
“In that same barangay, a kasambahay who had already left for Mindanao was still listed, and, in contrast, another kasambahay who is still a resident in the area had been de-listed. It is easy to suspect and surmise, but it is the duty of the government to find out why and how did this happen,” he said.
In Cainta, an OFW working in Qatar was also included on the list for ECQ assistance.
Nograles urged the Department of Social Welfare and Development and the Commission on Audit to investigate the issue.
“Kung may dagdag-bawas sa listahan, dapat lalong suriin yan. I hope DSWD can defend the listing because Technical Malversation and Malversation of Public Funds is a serious crime that must be reported,” he said.
