Angel took to social media as she issued a public apology following the incident wherein a senior citizen — identified as balut vendor Rolando Dela Cruz — died while waiting for his turn to receive some goods from her community pantry in Quezon City.

Rolando had been reportedly in line since 3:00 in the morning and passed out while waiting for the community pantry to open around 8:00 am. He was then declared dead on arrival at a nearby hospital.

Angel said that she had been in touch with Rolando’s family. According to her, she went to see Rolando’s family and had a chance to talk in the hospital, adding that she’ll forever seek for their forgiveness.

Ang nangyari po ay akin pong pagkakamali. Sana po’y wag madamay ang ibang community pantries na maganda po ang nangyari. Sa ngayon po, I will prioritize helping the family and I will make it my responsibility to help them get through this. I am very, very sorry,” Angel said in a post on her Facebook page and her Instagram account.

Aside from this, Angel said that she will donate the remaining goods from her community pantry to other community pantries.

Meanwhile, Quezon City Mayor Joy  Belmonte said that the city government will shoulder the burial expenses of Rolando and also provide financial assistance to the victim’s family as well.
