On Sunday, President Duterte celebrated his 76th birthday at his house in Davao City. Photos provided by Senator Go showed that President Duterte was sitting in front of rice with a single candle.

In his Facebook, Senator Go captioned: “Nag Blow ng Kandila ngayon lang! Simpleng pananghalian lamang”. However, a certain netizen named “Chammy Toot” uploaded a now-deleted video on Facebook wherein a full Lechon was present on the table.

With this, Senator Go went all-in on the defense of the President.

According to GMA News’ Joseph Morong, Senator Go said that it really was just a “simple” lunch with the family in his small house in Davao City and that’s really how the President celebrated his birthday. Senator Go also said that no one — including the President — even got dressed up.

Presidente ‘yan. Mas cute pa ang lechon sa inyo,” Senator Go said.

Meanwhile, Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque on Monday said during an interview on Unang Balita that the critics of the party were just showing “crab mentality”.
