Vaccination Program for Medical Workers in Marikina & Taguig City Begins

Marikina City and Taguig City have started vaccinating the medical workers with Sinovac’s vaccine to protect them against COVID-19.

On Tuesday (March 2, 2021), Marikina City begins to vaccinate an expected 190 medical frontliners. The beneficiaries came from public and private hospitals including city health employees.

Around 1,500 health workers initially signed up for the vaccination but only 50 individials wanted to continue after learning that the government will use Sinovac vaccines for the inoculation.

Mayor Marcelino Teodoro wants to get inoculated so he could convince his constituents to join the vaccination. Later on, the number of individuals who were convinced to get the vaccine increase to 130.

Marikina government is expecting to finish the inoculation of healthcare workers on March 8, 2021.

Meanwhile, Taguig City has already started the inoculation of the first batch of the vaccine recipients. The program has been held at the Taguig-Pateros District Hospital (TPDH).

The second batch would include the personnel of Taguig’s national immunization program while the third batch would include radiology chairman Dr. Maria Cecilia Aguillo, pedia specialist Dr. Fetalvero Deogenes Jr., OB-Gyne Dr. Liza Paraguya , and chief nurse Cynthia Carranza.
