An employee of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) was shot dead by an unknown gunman in San Fernando, Pampanga.
According to DOST Central Luzon Regional Director Julius Ceasar Sicat, the killing happened on Wednesday night, March 17.
The victim, identified as Marvin Valdez- a volumetric calibration officer of the DOST-3 regional metrology laboratory, was killed in his sari-sari store.
He added that the suspect pretended to be a customer at his store when he was attacked.
The DOST employee was hit by one of the bullets on his left side which damaged his vital organs.
The suspect then fled the crime scene with a motorcycle rider waiting for him.
Valdez was rushed to the nearby hospital by his neighbors but he was later declared dead on arrival.
Meanwhile, the authorities have already launched an investigation regarding the incident.
Sicat said that Valdez “diligently performed his work with unparalleled integrity, refusing any gift from clients. There were reports that he politely refuse requests for adjustment of tests results by some clients, as per strict policies of the DOST.”
