The costumes used by members of South Korean pop group BTS for their “Dynamite” music video were sold for this price at the Beverly Hills auction.

Grammy-nominated South Korean pop group BTS’ costumes used for their “Dynamite” music video were sold for a whopping USD 162,500 at an auction.

California-based Julien’s Auctions officially announced the winning bid for the items consisting of pastel-colored shirts, hats, pants, T-shirts, and sneakers.

Those costumes were offered for auction at the MusiCares Charity Relief Auction held last January 31, 2021, at Beverly Hills.

The winning bidders for the BTS costumes, according to a report on Manila Bulletin, were popular Japanese YouTuber Hikakin and Japanese billionaire and art collector Yusaku Maezawa.

On Twitter, Maezawa announced that they won the bidding and asked ARMYs (referring to BTS fans) to suggest what they should do with those costumes.

The winning bidders would also release videos on their YouTube channels about the auction.

According to the MusiCares website, proceeds would go to MusiCares Foundation, which would give assistance to people affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

BTS offered to donate their costumes — estimated to be from USD 20,000 to USD 40,000 — for the charity event.

The group’s “Dynamite” music video was released last August 21, 2020, and became the most-viewed music video in the first 24 hours of release with 101.1 million views on YouTube.

In addition, “Dynamite” debuted on top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart and became the group’s ticket to bag a nomination for “Best Pop Duo/Group Performance” at the 63rd Grammy Awards which will be held on March 14, 2021.
