US State Department Prematurely Announces Donald Trump Departure

US State Department prematurely announced Donald Trump’s departure

A website of the US State Department prematurely announced that US President Donald Trump had left office Monday, January 11, 2021.

In the said website, Trump’s official biography page briefly said “Donald J. Trump’s term ended 2021-01-11 19:49:00” before being taken down.

With this, internet users in the United States sought a message that there’s a technical error on the website instead.

The US State Department didn’t immediately respond to a question on whether the said incident was the result of hacking or a glitch.

However, it appeared clear that Donald Trump — who remained President on the White House website — had not found an uncharacteristically subtle way to quit via a hard-to-find page.
