On Wednesday, Mayor Isko told the residents of Manila at the sidelines of the Rizal Day celebration in Luneta Park that smuggled vaccines are not guaranteed to be effective.

“’Yong pera niyong gagastusin sa advance na bakuna na walang nakatitiyak, delikado ‘yon. Balewala ang pera niyo,” he said.

The Manila Mayor also noted that health workers who would be caught administering unauthorized vaccines against COVID-19 would be facing charges.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) together with the local government of Manila have been conducting raids over illegal vaccination hubs within the city.

According to the FDA, it is yet to authorize the use of any COVID-19 vaccine in the Philippines.

When asked for comment after several members of the Presidential Security Group (PSG) inoculated against COVID-19, he said: “Basta ang masasabi ko lang sa iyo, we in the City of Manila, we are certain about our rules.”

“These things are not allowed. And it should not be emulated or it should not be copied by any other agency in the national government or local government,” he added.
