According to her, she recently joined relief operations in Cagayan but despite following the protocols to prevent being infected with the deadly virus, she was contracted.

Maybelyn dela Cruz also advised the person she met and was with her these past few days to undergo a swab test to ensure that they are not affected by the virus.

Here is the full text of Maybelyn’s status:

“And… I have COVID.

“As most of you already know, I recently participated in relief operations in the Cagayan region. Following health guidelines, I observed voluntary self-quarantine in a separate room in our home and subsequently subjected myself to swab testing.

“It was something I was hoping would not happen, but it has. I was informed just last night that I tested positive for COVID-19. I then immediately coordinated with the city focal person, called the hospital, and was admitted. Fortunately, I only have mild symptoms; I feel well, and I am being closely monitored. My family is scheduled for swab testing on Monday.

“My husband, Michael, and I would like to take this opportunity to inform those who had close contact with us as we understand that it is a necessary step for the safety and protection of all concerned. As responsible members of our community, our family appreciates the importance of health protocols in order to break the chain of transmission.

“We thank you for your well wishes, support and prayers.

“We hope that your families stay safe in these difficult times.”

Aside from Maybelyn dela Cruz, some artists have also been positive for COVID-19. These include Alex Gonzaga, Enzo Pineda, Sylvia Sanchez, and to name a few.
