Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Ramon Lopez tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

On Wednesday, December 9, the Trade secretary himself confirmed that he contracted the dreaded virus.

Ramon Lopez is the fourth Cabinet member of President Rodrigo Duterte infected with COVID-19.

According to him, it was on Monday when he tested positive for coronavirus.

He added that he undergo swab testing for COVID-19 after being exposed to a person positive for the disease last week.

Ramon Lopez told the press that he’s assymptomatic and is currently under full isolation.

Earlier, DPWH Secretary Mark Villar, DepEd Secretary Leonor Briones, and DILG Secretary Eduardo Año tested positive for the disease but eventually recovered.

Meanwhile, as of posting, the country has already registered 422,785 cases of the novel coronavirus.

COVID-19 is characterized by flu-like symptoms such as fever, difficulty in breathing, cough, and other respiratory problems but a patient may also be positive for the disease even without showing any signs.

With the rapid increase of coronavirus disease 2019 cases, leaders of different nations are doing their all in order to combat the spread of the deadly virus which started in Wuhan, China in 2019.

Among the safety protocols that everyone must observe are the following; social/physical distancing, wearing masks especially in public places, and using disinfectant from time to time if possible.
