Vice Ganda held a fundraising drive but this was criticized
Comedian-host Vice Ganda reacted to the bashers of his recent fundraising drive for the victims of Typhoon Ulysses.
It is a common thing for celebrities to hold this kind of charitable endeavor during calamities. Several showbiz personalities have been doing this kindness for many years now.
Vice is one of the people in the entertainment industry who exerted effort to help the victims of the recent typhoon. However, his fundraising campaign did not escape from the eyes of the critics.
Based on the article from PEP, the comedian host received bashing for raising funds. It was said that he was questioned why he had to do this as it is a known fact that he is one of the wealthiest celebrities in the Philippines.
âWhy are you asking for help when you can very well donate on your own. What with your massive display of [y]our wealth supposedly? I canât believe you!â a netizen reported said.
Moreover, another netizen slammed Vice for asking for donations for the victims of typhoon Ulysses after he had his vacation. The comedian, along with his boyfriend Ion Perez and some of his friends were in Balesin when the typhoon hit the Philippines.
Amid these negative comments against his fundraising campaign, Vice Ganda defended himself. During the recent episode of Itâs Showtime.
He clarified that the reason of his fundraising is not because he does not want to donate his own money.
âParang mga baliw. Hindi po para sa akin ang donasyon na ito, at hindi ko po ito ginagawa para makatakas sa pagdo-donate. Makakaasa po kayo na may personal po akong donasyon na ibinibigay,â the comedian-host stressed.
He also said that he is doing this for his fans and supporters who want to help also and that he will just be the person who will collect the donations. Vice Ganda also assured that there will be transparency in the donations.
