DILG Sec. Año supported the creation of Department of Disaster Resilience
Interior Secretary Eduardo Año said in an interview that he supported the creation of the Department of Disaster Resilience.
This, after a series of typhoons — Typhoon Quinta, Typhoon Rolly, and Typhoon Ulysses — triggered flooding in several parts of Luzon.
Año said in an interview with ABS-CBN’s Teleradyo that he favored the creation of the Department of Disaster Resilience, adding that its coordination with other related agencies shall be made clear.
When asked if he supported the creation of the said department, he said that it’s one of the priority bills that were being pushed by the President.
President Rodrigo Duterte on Sunday said that some members of Congress were resisting the creation of the Department of Disaster Resilience fearing that there would be “duplication of work” among other government agencies.
