Debold Sinas is the new PNP chief
Former PNP chief-turned-Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa congratulated Police Major General Debold Sinas who’s appointed by the president as the new chief of the Philippine National Police.
In a message to the press, dela Rosa said: “Congratulations and good luck! May the force be with you!.”
Bato added that the newly appointed PNP chief should “continue the internal cleansing program and sustain the gains of the PNP’s anti-drugs and anti-criminality campaign.”
According to Bato, the controversial ‘Mañanita cop’ was a “good choice” and has a “proven track record.”
In contrary, he stressed that “nobody is perfect in this world.”
Previously, DILG Secretary Eduardo Ano said that three names were submitted to President Rodrigo Duterte as official candidates replacing Police General Camilo Cascolan, the outgoing PNP chief.
Cascolan is set to retire on Tuesday, November 10.
On Monday, Malacañang Palace thru Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque announced that Sinas was appointed by the President to take over as the new PNP chief.
The incoming PNP chief made headlines amid the enforcement of strict lockdowns in the country due to COVID-19 pandemic over “mañanita controversy.”
But the president defended Sinas and refused to remove him from his post then.
“He is a good officer, he’s an honest one. Hindi niya kasalanan kung may mangharana sa kanya sa birthday niya,” Duterte stressed.
