Gabriela Women’s Party has issued a statement regarding the red-tagging issue involving Kapamilya star Liza Soberano.
The 22-year-old actress was accused of red-tagging over her guest appearance at the Gabriela Youth Webinar entitled “Mga Tinig ni Nene: Reclaiming Our Voices on the International Day of the Girl Child” on Tuesday, October 13.
Shortly after the said webinar, a YouTuber who goes by the name Maui Vega or Maui Becker accused of promoting communism.
The vlogger who claimed to be the DDS Princess also slandered and criticized the actress for participating in a group of which according to him serves as the front of the rebel group, the New People’s Army.
Netizens immediately responded to the vlogger’s allegation.

Meanwhile, Gabriela Party-list Rep. Arlene Brosas has aired a statement regarding the issue which dragged the name of Liza Soberano.
“Nakakalungkot, hindi namin in-expect ang ganitong paninira kay Miss Soberano,” she said.
“Her courage to speak out against gender-based violence amid the intensifying culture of impunity should be admired rather than silenced and criticized,” she added.
In the later part of her statement, she lauded Liza Soberano for her commitment on defending women’s rights.
While Liza kept mum on the issue, her manager Ogie Diaz earlier went to Twitter to defend her.
