DOH Update: Total COVID-19 Cases In PH Already At 296,755

Total COVID-19 cases in the Philippines already reached 296,755, according to DOH.

The total number of coronavirus cases in the Philippines already reached 296,755 with over 2,100 newly-reported cases, according to the Department of Health (DOH).

This, as the Department of Health gave an update on the total number of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines as of 4:00 p.m. today, September 24, 2020.

According to its COVID-19 Case Bulletin #194 dated September 24, 2020, the Department of Health reported 2,180 newly-reported COVID-19 cases, wherein 1,825 out of 2,180 were recorded as “fresh” cases — reported cases occurred within the recent 14 days.

This brought the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease to 296,755.

Since September 11, the Department of Health didn’t report the number of operational laboratories who successfully submitted their data to the COVID-19 Data Repository System as well as the total number of operational laboratories. However, the Department of Health on Thursday reported that nine operational laboratories failed to submit their data to the CDRS.

The Department of Health also reported 59,700 total active cases as stated in its COVID-19 Case Bulletin #194 dated September 24, 2020.

Moreover, the Department of Health identified the top five areas with the highest number of new coronavirus cases as of September 24 only: Metro Manila with 802 new cases, Laguna with 292 new cases, Batangas with 152 new cases, Cavite with 144 new cases, and Negros Occidental with 87 new cases.

Aside from the number of confirmed cases, the Department of Health had recorded 580 newly-reported recoveries and 36 newly-reported fatalities. This brought the total number of recoveries to 231,928 and coronavirus deaths to 5,127.
