Globe Telecom Sets ‘Largest Network Upgrade’ In PH

Globe Telecom set its “largest network upgrade” in the Philippines.

Globe Telecom on Thursday officially announced its “largest network upgrade” in order to boost its nationwide connectivity.

This, after the national government called for an enhanced internet service especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a statement, Globe Telecom said that the said plan includes expanding coverage, accelerating cell site builds, and increasing capacity for data.

The upgrade, Globe Telecom added, was set 10 years after it launched its nationwide transformation program.

Globe Telecom also said that it would upgrade all its sites to have 4G/LTE using many different frequencies which were critical for speeds and coverage, adding that deploying 4G nationwide means the entire Philippines would be “data-ready”.

In addition, Globe Telecom said that fiber to homes would also be fast-tracked in order to improve wireline connections. Moreover, Globe Telecom said that all upgrades were expected to be completed by 2021.

Ernest Cu, the president and CEO at Globe Telecom, said that Globe was in a much better position now in order to fulfill the demands of its customers, adding that the company should endeavor to provide its customers with its improved network performance and quality of service in heeding the call of the national government.

Cu also said that Globe looked towards the future where the Philippines would have a strong digital economy backed by reliable and resilient connectivity.

Recently, Globe offered its new Go prepaid mobile data promos and its GoBooster Add-ons as well.
