The total number of coronavirus cases in the Philippines already reached 241,987 with over 3,200 newly-reported cases, according to the Department of Health (DOH).
This, as the Department of Health gave an update on the total number of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines as of 4:00 p.m. today, September 8, 2020.
According to its COVID-19 Case Bulletin #178 dated September 8, 2020, the Department of Health reported 3,281 newly-reported COVID-19 cases, which brought the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease to 241,987.
In addition, the Department of Health stated that the newly-confirmed cases on Tuesday were reported based on the total tests done by 81 out of 115 current operational laboratories. The Department of Health also reported that 34 operational laboratories failed to submit their data to the CDRS or the COVID-19 Data Repository System.
Moreover, 2,932 out of 3,281 newly-reported cases occurred within the recent 14 days — from August 26 to September 8.

The Department of Health also reported 52,893 total active cases as stated in its COVID-19 Case Bulletin #178 dated September 8, 2020.
Moreover, the Department of Health identified the top five areas with the highest number of new coronavirus cases as of September 8 only: Metro Manila with 1,420 new cases, Cavite with 263 new cases, Negros Occidental with 204 new cases, Laguna with 197 new cases, and Rizal with 196 new cases.
Aside from the number of confirmed cases, the Department of Health had recorded 286 newly-reported recoveries and 26 newly-reported fatalities. This brought the total number of recoveries to 185,178 and total coronavirus deaths to 3,916.
