President Duterte had placed Metro Manila and other nearby areas under MECQ starting August 4, 2020.
President Rodrigo Duterte had placed Metro Manila and other nearby areas under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) for 15 days starting Tuesday, August 4, 2020.
This, as President Duterte said in a briefing on Sunday night that Metro Manila — as well as Bulacan, Laguna, Cavite, and Rizal — had been placed under modified enhanced community quarantine until August 18, 2020.
President Duterte’s decision came after medical frontliners had asked for Metro Manila to place under ECQ for two weeks in order for them to give time to rest and “recalibrate strategies” against the coronavirus disease.
