DOH Reports Over 5,000 New COVID-19 Cases In The Philippines

Over 5,000 new COVID-19 cases were reported in the Philippines, according to DOH.

The Department of Health (DOH) on Sunday reported over 5,000 new COVID-19 cases in the Philippines, which brought the total number of cases to over 103,000.

This, as the Department of Health gave an update on the total number of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines as of 4:00 p.m. of today, August 2, 2020.

According to DOH’s COVID-19 Case Bulletin #141 dated August 2, 2020, the Department of Health reported 5,032 new COVID-19 cases, which brought the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease to 103,185.

In addition, the Department of Health stated that the newly-confirmed cases on Sunday were reported based on the total tests done by 70 out of 94 current operational laboratories. Since July 27, the DOH didn’t report the fresh and late cases in its case bulletin.

Aside from the number of confirmed cases, the Department of Health reported 301 new recoveries and 20 additional fatalities. This brought the total number of recoveries to 65,557 and total coronavirus deaths to 2,059.

Moreover, the Department of Health reported 35,569 total active cases as stated in its COVID-19 Case Bulletin #141 dated August 2, 2020.

The Department of Health identified the top five areas with the highest number of new coronavirus cases as of August 2 only: Metro Manila with 2,737 new cases, Cavite with 463 new cases, Cebu with 449 new cases, Laguna with 326 new cases, and Rizal with 201 new cases.
