The DOH had recorded 40,397 newly-reported coronavirus recoveries for today, August 16, 2020.

The Department of Health (DOH) had recorded 40,397 newly-reported coronavirus recoveries in the Philippines for today, August 16, 2020.

This, as the Department of Health gave an update on the total number of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines via Virtual Presser.

According to its COVID-19 Case Bulletin #155 dated August 16, 2020, the Department of Health reported 3,420 newly-reported COVID-19 cases, which brought the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease to 161,253.

In addition, the Department of Health stated that the newly-confirmed cases on Sunday were reported based on the total tests done by 99 out of 105 current operational laboratories. Moreover, 2,745 out of 3,420 newly-reported cases occurred within the recent 14 days – from August 3 to 16.

In addition, the Department of Health reported 46,002 total active cases as stated in its COVID-19 Case Bulletin #155 dated August 16, 2020.

Moreover, the Department of Health identified the top five areas with the highest number of new coronavirus cases as of August 16 only: Metro Manila with 2,091 new cases, Laguna with 263 new cases, Cavite with 149 new cases, Batangas with 137 new cases, and Rizal with 106 new cases.

Aside from the number of confirmed cases, the Department of Health had recorded 40,397 newly-reported recoveries wherein 39,483 out of 40,397 were reported as time-based recoveries. This brought the total number of recoveries to 112,586.

Also, the Department of Health had recorded 65 newly-reported fatalities, which brought the total coronavirus deaths to 2,665.
