POLO STAFF – A member of the staff of the Philippine Overseas Labor Office in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia died of COVID-19.

The COVID-19 pandemic is currently shaking the healthcare systems of several nations and territories. Across the globe, this coronavirus disease has infected over 15 million people already.

Global tallies show that more than 600,000 people from different countries died of this disease that was first recorded in China last December 2019. The total recoveries is at 9 million now.

Saudi Arabia is one of the countries with cases of COVID-19. As of this writing, it has already recorded over 255,000 cases of the disease with more than two (2) thousand fatalities and two (2) hundred thousand recoveries.

One of the COVID-19 fatalities in Saudia Arabia is a staff member of the Philippine Overseas Labor Office. Based on a report on GMA News, the said POLO staff in Jeddah initially tested negative in the swab testing.

However, according Labor Attaché Nasser Munder, the said POLO staff who died of COVID-19 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia later on showed symptoms of the coronavirus disease.

The COVID-19 is known to be characterized by flu-like symptoms including fever, cough, and breathing difficulties. The tricky part is that a person may also be positive for the disease even without exhibiting any flu-like sign at all.

Based on the report, the staff member was confined at a hospital abroad. Unfortunately, the patient died during confinement.

Two (2) other members of the Labor Office also tested positive for COVID-19. The Office will temporarily suspend operation until the first week of August to give way for the disinfection.
