Last Friday, July 3, Marcoleta reiterated with DZRJ’s Pugad Bloggers why the Kapamilya network is not eligible for a new franchise from Congress.

Marcoleta echoed his remarks at a previous hearing in Congress on ABS-CBN‘s franchise renewal.

“Kaya sa palagay namin, wala na sigurong puwang para bigyan pa sila ng panibagong prangkisa,” he said.

“Ibibigay na lang ito…dun sa mga taong deserving, magsisilbi talaga sa ating mamamayan. At hindi tayo paiikutin kahit kailan,” he added.

According to him, the violations committed by the network include citizenship of network owner Gabby Lopez III, labor practices, alleged improper tax payments, use of Philippine Depositary Receipts (PDRs), and about digital operations of the network using AMCARA Broadcasting Network franchise even though it is illegal.

Meanwhile, speculations spread earlier that there might be a poll in Congress over the ABS-CBN franchise.

This was followed by the massive social media campaign of the Kapamilya stars and personalities, where they circulated the email addresses of members of the Committee on Legislative Franchises.

Allegedly, they want their supporters to beat the lawmakers to give the network another franchise.

According to PEP.ph, all allegations against ABS-CBN have been answered by network executives and even refuted by some government agencies.

It was on May 4 when the ABS-CBN franchise expired.

On May 5, the operation of network TV and radio stations nationwide was suspended due to a cease and desist order by the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC).

  3. Let the law apply, whoever is affected. The stars and the people beneficiaries of this network expectedly will rally for its renewal despite the major violations commited as evidenced by the facts presented during the hearing. Let the Pilipino people see justice being served to the rich

  4. Sa dami ng mga violation na ginawa ng abs cbn hindi na dapat tlaga bigyan ng prankisa yan. Let that be a lesson to all other network that their main function is to deliver unbias news and always be neutral. And hwag nilang gawing dahilan ang dami ng mawawalan ng trabaho. Sooner or later mkakahanap din yan at may panibagong network na susulpot at maghhire sa kanila. Ang importante ginawa ng mambabatas ang dapat at tama.

  5. In my opinion based on the correctness of the allegations as the network official cannot answer or rebuffed said allegation to them from the violation of the constitution on citizenship to business layering to avoid correct tax payment to the selling of PDRs to non Filipinos to an obvious non ownership of the land as the TCT are in conflict and to the labor cases that even DOLE had been irked by the network using them as a guise for their failure to resolve their employees and the biases and immoral shows that they cater in. THEY Should NOT be given a new franchise

  6. This party list representative was clearly biased even before any charges or evidence were presented. He has pre judged the whole thing. His opinion or statement does not or should not carry any weight when the committee or body considers the franchise application. Clear bias removes one’s credibility
