The Department of Health on Friday gave an update on the total number of coronavirus cases in the Philippines as of today, July 10, 2020.

The Department of Health reported 1,233 new coronavirus cases wherein 848 were classified as “fresh” cases and the remaining 385 were classified as “late” cases, bringing the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease to 52,914 as of 4:00 p.m. of July 10, 2020.

For “fresh” cases, 405 COVID-19 patients were from Metro Manila, 30 were from Central Visayas, and the remaining 413 came from different areas in the Philippines.

For the “late” cases, 139 COVID-19 patients were from Metro Manila, 28 were from Central Visayas, three repatriates, and the remaining 218 were from different areas in the Philippines.

According to the Department of Health, the fresh cases recorded on Friday were based on its test results released to patients within the last three days, while the late cases recorded were based on the test results released to patients four days ago or more.

Aside from the number of confirmed cases, the Department of Health also reported 286 new recoveries and 42 additional fatalities. This brought the total number of recoveries to 13,230 and total coronavirus deaths to 1,360.

Moreover, the Department of Health reported 38,324 total active cases as of 4:00 p.m. of July 10, 2020.
