Cebu City Police Officer Contracted COVID-19 & Died Amid Global Pandemic

CEBU CITY POLICE OFFICER – A police official in Cebu City got infected and died of coronavirus or COVID-19.

The Philippines has yet to win the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. Every day, there are still new cases of the disease recorded in the different parts of the country.

Currently, there is a total of 28,459 cases of COVID-19 recorded in the country. According to the Department of Health (DOH), the death toll now is at 1,130 while 7,378 patients have recovered from the disease.

The whole Philippines is still under a community quarantine now to prevent the spread of the disease. Everyone must not be complacent as the pandemic is still present.

Most parts of the country are under a Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ). Metro Manila and several other areas are under a GCQ now.

From GCQ, Cebu City was placed back to Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ). It is following the high increase on the cases of coronavirus in the city.

Recently, a Cebu City Police Officer died of COVID-19. He is the 7th police officer across the globe to have died of the disease.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the unidentified Cebu City Police Officer was brought to the hospital last June 10. He was exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19.

The samples of the police official was taken and, on June 13, his results came out. He tested positive for the disease. According to the report, six (6) days after it, he died.

Currently, there is a total of 456 police officials who were infected by COVID-19. According to Philippine National Police spokesperson Police Brig. Gen. Bernard Banac, 276 of them have already recovered from the disease.
