A vice president of South Sudan confirmed that the country already had its first case of COVID-19 or coronavirus disease.

This, as Vice President Riek Machar said that a 29-year-old patient, who arrived from Ethiopia last February 28, became the first patient who tested positive for COVID-19 or coronavirus disease in the said country.

As reported by Reuters, the said patient was already being treated in isolation.

Meanwhile, a health minister in Ethiopia reported its first fatality due to coronavirus disease as well as 43 total confirmed COVID-19 cases.

Globally, the coronavirus disease, as of this writing, had infected over 1.2 million patients and killed over 68,000 people worldwide, adding that 259,637 patients across the globe were already recovered from the virus.
