Pres. Duterte Declares State of Calamity in the Philippines over Coronavirus

State of Calamity was declared by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte in the Philippines over coronavirus.

The coronavirus spread is now the biggest national concern in the Philippines – and as well as in several countries abroad. In PH, a total of 187 confirmed COVID-19 cases were recorded.

As of this writing, twelve (12) people died of coronavirus in the Philippines. The Department of Health (DOH) and the authorities continue to trace and monitor those that the coronavirus patients had a contact with.

Most coronavirus patients are confined in hospitals in Metro Manila and most cases were recorded within the Metro as well. It prompted the government to implement an “enhanced community quarantine” in the whole Luzon.

Recently, an update crossed the surface. Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte declared a state of calamity in the whole Philippines allowing the local government units to utilize their funds to curb the spread of coronavirus.
