‘State of Alert’ Declaration Set For Spain Over Coronavirus

SPAIN – The national government is set to declare a ‘state of alert’ in the country following the increasing cases of coronavirus.

Several countries across the globe are now facing a huge challenge – the fight against the 2019 novel coronavirus. Undeniably, this is the biggest global concern now.

Officially called as COVID-19, the said disease left China under an outbreak with over 3,000 deaths, Italy on a total lockdown, and several countries in a state of health emergency.

Several national government have already declared a state of national emergency to fight the spread of the 2019 coronavirus. United States is one of these nations following the declaration of U.S. President Donald Trump.

The Philippines is also under a public health emergency now. Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte has placed the whole of Metro Manila, where the country’s capital lies, under a “community quarantine”.

Currently, another country, Spain, is set to declare a ‘state of alert’. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez expressed that a cabinet meeting will be held tomorrow to tackle it.

According to the Prime Minister, the state of alert may last for 15 days. Based on the report, he raised the possibility that the coronavirus cases in the country may rise to 10,000 next week.

Currently, there are 4,200 confirmed coronavirus cases in the country now. Over 120 people died of the disease. The Prime Minister expressed that Spain is just on the first phase of the battle against coronavirus.

“Several very tough weeks… are ahead of us… Victory depends on every single one of us…. Heroism is also about washing your hands and staying at home,” Sanchez said.
