Coronavirus Patient in Cebu Now Asymptomatic, Region 7 DOH Chief Says

DOH CHIEF – The head of the Department of Health in Region 7 revealed the condition of the coronavirus patient in Cebu.

One of the provinces that has a confirmed case of the 2019 novel coronavirus or COVID-19 in the Philippines is the province of Cebu. It was on March 18, 2020 when a case was confirmed.

The said first case of coronavirus in Cebu is in Mandaue City. The patient is a 65-year-old man with no travel history outside the Philippines.

Currently, there is a total of 202 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the country. PH is now under a state of calamity and the entire Luzon was placed on an enhanced community quarantine to curb the spread of the disease.

A total of twelve (12) deaths due to coronavirus were recorded by the Department of Health (DOH). According to the health department, seven (7) recoveries were recorded.

Recently, another update of recovery crossed the surface. Based on a report on Philstar, the DOH Chief in Region 7, Jaime Bernadas, said that the coronavirus patient in Cebu is “already recovering” and shows no signs of COVID-19 anymore.

Furthermore, based on the report, he is about to be discharged. He will have to undergo a second test for coronavirus as part of the procedure and all the people he had a contact with since he became a person under investigation (PUI) would be traced.

It was last March 11 when he was tested for COVID-19. He was considered as a PUI then. He has no recent travel abroad but he has been to Manila and several cities in Mindanao.

Bernadas is hopeful that the 65-year-old man can share his experience. Currently, it is a race against time for PH to contain the spread of coronavirus.
