SC Has ‘No Jurisdiction’ Over OSG’s Quo Warranto Plea, Says CDO Rep.

President Duterte’s ally on Wednesday said that the Office of the Solicitor General’s quo warranto plea against ABS-CBN’s franchise didn’t have Supreme Court’s jurisdiction.

This as Cagayan de Oro Rep. Rufus Rodriguez said that Solicitor General Jose Calida should have filed his quo warranto complaint against ABS-CBN before the House of Representatives.

In an interview with ANC’s Early Edition, Cagayan de Oro Rep. Rufus Rodriguez said that Solicitor General Jose Calida was wrong in taking over the power of Congress by trying to go to the Supreme Court knowing that SC has given the power of franchises to the Congress. Rodriguez added that the said complaint against ABS-CN would be dismissed immediately on the grounds that the Solicitor General Jose Calida’s petition has no basis and the SC has no jurisdiction.

Cagayan de Oro Rep. Rufus Rodriguez also said that the Supreme Court should give Congress the “respect of an equal branch of government.”
