Bacolod City, Negros Occidental Confirms 2 Suspected Cases of Coronavirus

SUSPECTED CORONAVIRUS CASES IN BACOLOD – The Negros Occidental Provincial Government confirmed two (2) suspected cases of nCoV in the city.

The outbreak of the 2019 novel coronavirus in China has reached several other countries including the Philippines. Recently, in the country, one (1) patient died of the disease that is allegedly from the bat soup served in Wuhan.

The epicenter of the disease is Wuhan City which is now under a lock-down. Nearly 8,000 people were infected and at least 300 died of the said disease.

The first coronavirus case in the Philippines was confirmed last Thursday. The patient, a 38-year-old Chinese woman from Wuhan City, China, was admitted in San Lazaro Hospital in Manila.

The companion of the patient, a 44-year-old Chinese man, was also confined in the same hospital. Yesterday, the Department of Health (DOH) confirmed that the Chinese man died due to coronavirus.

Suspected Coronavirus Cases in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental

Recently, two (2) suspected coronavirus cases in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental add on to the record. It was the Neg. Occ. Provincial Government that confirmed it.

Based on the post on the Facebook page of Negros Daily Bulletin, Governor Bong Lacson expressed that that patients are currently admitted in the regional hospital in Bacolod City (Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital).

According to the Governor, one patient is a foreigner from Taiwan and the result of his laboratory tests are expected to be out tomorrow. The other patient is a Filipina who has a travel history to Hong Kong. Her specimens were also sent to the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) and the results are expected on Wednesday.

Based on the post, after the results are out, a confirmatory test would be done. The patients are now isolated in the hospital where they are admitted.
