This is a way of looking back to the life and death of former daring actress Stella Strada
Former daring actress Stella Strada became popular during the 80s but her stardom ended drastically when she took her own life.
In that era when daring films reigned in the Philippine entertainment industry, the name of Stella, Suzette Bishop in real life, was one of the famous names of “hubadera”. With her beauty and figure, she was able to capture the attention of the viewers through her films Kirot, Angkinin Mo Ako, Hanguin Mo Ako sa Putik, and Sex Education.
Just like other daring actresses during that era, Stella also had a dark past. Based on the article from The Philippine Star, she had no permanent home and experienced molestation at an early age. It was said that some of her friends would describe her life as “parang pelikula” because only glimpses were being delivered to the public.
After doing several daring films, she decided to stop it as she born-again Christian, based on the article from spot.ph. That time, she also wanted to be a serious actress. However, there was no movie offer that reportedly led to her depression. Reports also stated that she resorted to drugs at that lowest point of her career.
With all that happened to her, it was reported on December 28, 1984, that Stella Strada took her own life by hanging herself.
It was also said that she left a note stating this:
“Mommy, walang nagmamahal sa akin at walang nakakaintindi dito. Mahal ko kayong lahat. Isang bagay lang ang hinihiling ko. Pakisunog ninyo lahat ng gamit ko at walang ititira.”
Based on the article, her confidant, Rene Mas, also ended his life with her.
