Myra Manibog a.k.a. “Mirinda”: The Life of Softdrink Beauty after Showbiz

Softdrink Beauty Mirinda or Myra Manibog is living this kind of life now

Myra Manibog, who was originally part of the Softdrink Beauties as Mirinda, is living this kind of life now after her showbiz stint.

She was also discovered by talent scout Rey dela Cruz just like Pepsi Paloma, Coca Nicolas, and Sarsi Emmanuelle. During the height of her showbiz career, Myra did several movies such as Silip (1985), Bomba Queen (1985), and Isang Kumot, Tatlong Unan (1986).

However, she revealed in an interview with ABS-CBN that being an actress was never her dream, it was her mother’s. “I was the breadwinner, eldest ako sa magkakapatid, so trabaho lang talaga. Gusto ko lang magtrabaho but ‘di ko pangarap na sumikat, magkaroon ng award, ‘yang mga ganyan,” she shared.

In 1987 she got married but she continued doing showbiz projects. However, when she gave birth two years from that, she decided to leave the industry. Her family went to Japan where she worked as a translator for documents and as a club manager at night.

Unfortunately, she separated from her former husband and that became a struggling life for her and her children. “Nagtitinda ako ng french fries sa school ng mga bata. Gising ng five in the morning para magluto tapos idi-deliver ni mama ko sa classrooms ng school. Kumikita ako ng magkano P100 a day just to feed my kids kasi single parent ako,” Myra Manibog shared.

Based on the article from GMA, she thought that her husband left her for not looking as fabulous as she was before. “Na-insecure na ko dahil ang taba ko na nga. Inisip ko kaya nambababae ‘yung asawa ko kasi pangit na ako. Siyempre hindi na ako kasing lakas kumita noong araw. And then sabi noong mga friends ko doon sa Japan when you use this drug, ‘yung shabu, papayat ka,” the former daring actress said.

At the back of her mind, she has regrets leaving the entertainment industry. Myra said that it would be easier for her children to penetrate the show business if she still belongs in that world. “So nahihirapan sila because of a decision I made for myself. ‘Di ko naman alam na gusto pala nila,” she said.

In 2014, she produced the debut album of her children Alekza, Kevin and Aika, collectively known as A.K.A. According to her Facebook profile, Myra also became a DJ at API Broadcasting Network Community Radio. Currently, she is the CEO and President of Myra Manibog Productions. She joined the Tawag ng Tanghalan Celebrity Edition in 2019.
