Deputy Chief Of Police Of San Jose Town In Negros Oriental Shot Dead

The Deputy Chief of Police of the town of San Jose in Negros Oriental on Tuesday night was shot dead along the national highway in Barangay Tapon Norte.

The victim was identified as Police Executive Master Sergeant Roldan Esmajer, 47, who was the Deputy Chief of Police of the town of San Jose in Negros Oriental.

According to reports from the police, Police Executive Master Sergeant Roldan Esmajer suffered from three gunshot wounds in his upper abdomen, right lateral chest area, and right shoulder. He was then declared dead in a local hospital 45 minutes after the shooting incident, in which it happened at around 7:00 in the evening.

The director of the Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office, Police Colonel Julian Entoma, said in an interview with CDN Digital that Esmajer was on his way to the police station of San Jose while riding on his motorcycle when he was ambushed. He added that Esmajer came from a police operation, yet he made a quick trip back to his home in San Jose to attend to some personal matters.

According to the witnesses, Esmajer was followed by the two still unidentified gunmen onboard another motorcycle. Witnesses added that the back rider of the riding-in-tandem suspects shot Esmajer three times.

The suspects then immediately fled the scene towards the south direction. There were no empty shells recovered from the crime scene, where Esmajer was gunned down.
