This is how Marie, a Tourism grad tells her parents she’s Magna Cum Laude
MARIE LOUISE CORPUZ – A tourism graduate announced to her parents that she’s a magna cum laude thru “money cake.”
Marie, 22, graduated with the degree on Bachelor of Science in Tourism and Management at Saint Louis University in Baguio City as Magna Cum Laude.
To surprise her parents, Marie used a money cake and pretended that it was a gift for her dad as a belated Father’s Day celebration.
Last June 27, Marie took to the video-sharing platform, TikTok on how she surprised her mom and dad.
In the video, Marie can be seen handling the money cake for her dad.
When her father started to pull the money, he got some rolls of 20 peso bills. It comes with dedication and her parents are reading them as the head of the family pulls them out of the cake.
“Wala akong pera…” the mother can be heard saying.
When they read the last part of the message that she’s magna cum laude, her mom shouted in gladness while her father seem overjoyed.
Then, they stand to give Marie a hug. They can be heard saying “thank you” to their daughter.

In an interview with PEP.ph, the Tourism grad said: “Yung disappointments ko sa sarili ko, napawi ng award ko kasi I finally proved myself wrong. Lahat ng hirap ko worth it kasi ito na yung result.”
According to her, her next step is to wait for the removal of her braces so that she could apply to airlines at the same time take the civil service exam.
Last June 24, Marie shared all the struggles she had gone through in her college journey via a lengthy Facebook post.
