Coronavirus or COVID-19 has put thousands of lives at risk. Currently, more than 200 countries across the globe are suffering from this disease and nearly three (3) million people were infected by this disease.
This disease spares no one. Although it is known that the senior citizens are more prone to contracting the disease, it has infected young people and those who are in middle age.
Sadly, it has even infected babies. In Manila, a 5-month-old baby was infected by COVID-19 and had to be away from his mother for almost a month for the treatment.
By God’s grace, the said baby recovered from the disease. The mother of the 5-month-old infant shared the story of what the baby went through from COVID-19.
Based on a report on GMA News, Joemelia Datayan expressed that the baby was having fever and diarrhea. She brought the baby to Dr. Jose Fabella Memorial Hospital in Manila and was given medicine prescriptions.
The baby was sent home but his fever continued for several days. Based on the report, the mother of the 5-month-old said that they returned to the hospital and a swab test was taken and he was moved to an isolation room. After three (3) days, his result came out and he is positive for COVID-19.
“Doon na po ako natakot, baka kasi hindi kayanin ni baby,” the mom of the baby said based on the report.
Joemelia and their family underwent a 14-day quarantine. She stressed that it was hard not to see her baby and not know about the condition of the infant.
Now, the baby is already in a stable condition but would have to undergo a home quarantine for two (2) weeks for observation. She still does not know how the baby contracted the disease.
