COVID-19 or coronavirus is the common enemy now in the global arena. Several countries are affected by the said disease including the Philippines.

In the Philippines, over 3,700 cases of coronavirus were recorded. The death toll is currently at 177. The country is still fighting the spread of the infection.

With regards to the recoveries, 84 patients of coronavirus have recovered from the disease. One of them is a Cebu doctor who was placed to the intensive care unit (ICU) following a worsening condition but managed to recover from it.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Dr. Estrella Huang is one of the five (5) coronavirus patients in Cebu. Aging 69-years-old, she is one of those who proved that the elderly can survive COVID-19.

An internal specialist at Cebu Doctor’s Group of Hospitals and an instructor in the medical school, Dr. Huang has no recent travel abroad. It is suspected that she contracted the disease in a hospital or a clinic.

Based on the report, it was three (3) weeks ago when the Cebu doctor tested positive for COVID-19. She was sent to the ICU after her condition worsened and she fought for her life for over eight (8) days.

On the eight day of the doctor in the ICU, her health deteriorated. Antibiotics and anti-viral drugs helped her fight the disease. Her optimism also did its part.

“She had a positive outlook, and in a day or two, she turned it all around,” Dr. Yong Larrazabal said based on the report.

On April 4, Dr. Huang’s coronavirus test result came and she tested negative for the disease. She was already discharged and was welcomed by congratulatory placards when she went out of the hospital.
