Failed Senatorial candidate Harry Roque to volunteer in DepEd?
HARRY ROQUE – The former presidential spokesperson is willing to volunteer in the Department of Education (DepEd) to help vice president-elect Sara Duterte.
Roque served as the presidential spokesperson of President Rodrigo Duterte from 2017 to 2018 and from 2020 to 2021.
He also served as the party-list representative of KABAYAN from 2016 to 2017.
In his 15 years at the University of the Philippines College of Law, he taught constitutional law and public international law.
Roque is also a member of the Advisory Council of the Asian Society of International Law (AsianSIL) and was president of AsianSIL from 2018 to 2019.
In a statement, Roque said that he’s ready to offer service to DepEd even if he won’t receive anything.
According to him, his only interest is to improve the level of education in the country for his children and grandchildren.
“Maski walang sweldo, maski hindi ako kikilalanin dahil ako naman po ay nagkaroon ng dalawang anak at magkakaroon ng apo, interest ko rin po na ma-improve talaga ang educational system natin,” he said.
Roque has been subjected to 1-year appointment ban after losing the election. But according to him, there is no problem if Duterte does not give him any position on DepEd.
Roque is known to be close to Duterte and is ready to support the next vice president.
Last month, Harry Roque ran for senator but failed to secure a spot in the magic 12.
Among those who won the recent senatorial election are the following; Robin Padilla, Loren Legarda, Raffy Tulfo, Win Gatchalian, Chiz Escudero, Mark Villar, Alan Peter Cayetano, Juan Miguel Zubiri, Joel Villanueva, JV Ejercito, Risa Hontiveros, Jinggoy Estrada.
