NAOYA INOUE – The house of the Japanese boxing superstar was robbed during his bout with Filipino boxing star, Nonito Donaire.
Inoue is a three-division world champion and currently, a unified bantamweight world champion, having held the WBA (Super), IBF, Ring magazine titles since 2019, and the WBC title since June 2022.
He previously held the WBO junior-bantamweight title from 2014 to 2018, and the WBC light-flyweight title in 2014.
He’s dubbed “The Monster” because of his punching power and body attack, having a knockout ratio of 87%.
On the other hand, Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire Jr. is a professional boxer who has held multiple world championships in four weight classes from flyweight to featherweight.
He is the oldest boxer in history to win a bantamweight world title, as well as being the first three-time champion in that weight class.
Donaire has also held world championships in three consecutive decades: the 2000s, 2010s, and 2020s, being the sixth boxer to do so after Evander Holyfield, Manny Pacquiao, Bernard Hopkins, Érik Morales, and Floyd Mayweather Jr.
He is popularly known as “The Filipino Flash” due to his fast hand speed and punching power.
It was on June 7 when the two fought in a bantamweight unification boxing match at Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan.
The 29-year-old WBC, WBA and IBF world bantamweight champion defeated the Filipino fighter in the second round of the match via TKO.
However, shortly after the fight, Fuji TV and TBS reported that his house in Kanagawa was robbed.
“I saw the news but on a happy day it’s a bad story, isn’t it? Everyone should be careful!” he tweeted in Japanese.
Apparently, over a dozen of designer bags and pieces of jewelry were stolen from the professional boxer as per the report.
