Nonito Donaire was supposed to fight Emmanuel Rodriguez on Saturday, December 19 (US Time) at Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, Connecticut.

However, according to BoxingScene.com, the bout between them will not push through after he tested positive for COVID-19.

Instead, Rodriguez will face another Filipino boxer named Reymart Gaballo.

The undefeated Pinoy boxer was supposed to fight Chilean Jose Velasquez in the interim bantamweight division of the World Boxing Association.

But since Nonito Donaire tested positive for COVID-19, he was tasked to replace the Filipino Flash.

It was just last year when Nonito Donaire suffered a loss to Naoya Inoue in the finals of the World Boxing Super Series.

On the other hand, Rodriguez got his first-ever defeat with Inoue in the same year which made him vacate the IBF bantamweight title.

Meanwhile, as of posting, the country has already registered 444,164 cases of the novel coronavirus.
