Here’s the message of Karen Davila to those who testified against Leila de Lima
KAREN DAVILA – The veteran broadcaster criticized those who testified against Senator Leila de Lima.
Leila Norma Eulalia Josefa Magistrado de Lima, a politician, lawyer, human rights activist, and law professor is currently serving as senator of the Philippines since 2016.
Previously, she held the positions of Chairperson of the Commission on Human Rights from May 2008 to June 2010, and as the Secretary of Justice from 2010 to 2015 under the administration of late president Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III.
In 2017, she was arrested for her alleged link to the drug trade at the New Bilibid Prison during her term as the Justice secretary.
Presently, she is running for the senate again under the slate of presidential candidate, Vice President Leni Robredo.
Earlier, self-confessed drug lord Kerwin Espinosa and Bureau of Corrections OIC and star witness Rafael Ragos retracted their claims against De Lima.
In a tweet, Davila said that those who lied to put De Lima in jail should be held accountable.
Davila also asked if the case against De Lima could be dropped, especially since some witnesses have recanted their testimony against the senator.
According to Karen Davila, De Lima lost five years because of the lies of the witnesses.
Meanwhile, some personalities including presidential candidate Leni Robredo plead for the release of De Lima after Ragos and Espinosa recanted their testimonies.
De Lima has already released a statement following the recant of Espinosa and Ragos’ claims against her.
